The zones
A complete Haven layout works in layers: riser lights that wash each step, post-cap fixtures that define the perimeter, in-deck lights that mark edges and transitions, and landscape zones that carry the light off the deck and into the yard. Each zone can be controlled and colored independently.
Because it is full-color, the same deck can read warm and quiet for dinner or shift to color for a celebration, without a single visible cord or fixture stuck on after the fact.
Why timing is everything
Haven is designed with the deck and installed after the picture frame and railings are in: fixtures laid out, drilled, and set into the finished surface, wired from below. The in-deck lights sit in the second picture-frame board, inside the rail line, one centered in each railing section, and the post caps glow warm white. The lights drop in last. Wire is pre-run in the open frame only when the deck sits too low to get underneath later. That is what lets the fixtures sit flush and invisible, with no surface conduit. Add lighting with no plan and you get exactly the bolted-on look we design to avoid.
Planning lighting early also means it is coordinated with the railing and the deck pattern, so the light reinforces the architecture instead of fighting it.
