The Pinnacle Standard
The Pinnacle Standard is not one board.
It is the way the whole project gets decided.
The board matters, but it is nowhere near enough. A deck has to fit the house, the sun, the grade, the view, the climate, the water, the framing, the maintenance, the space underneath, the railing, the lighting, the warranty path, and the way the people who live there actually use the outside of their home.
That is the standard.
What we specify, and when
- Trex Transcend Lineage when the deck gets five or more hours of direct sun
- Trex Signature when it fits the home and the exposure
- Trex Signature aluminum rail as the default railing system
- Trex X-Series cable rail when the view matters and the system can be done properly
- Trex RainEscape for under-deck dry space in New York
- Trex cladding for vertical surfaces
- Haven lighting when the lighting system needs real control
- TimberTech tongue-and-groove ceilings when warmth and contrast belong overhead
That last one is not a contradiction. We build our decks on one system because mixing systems is where warranties and performance get murky — and we still use the best product for a job it is genuinely better at.
What we will not do
No random board mixing.
No hundred-sample circus.
No guessing around a septic system.
No ignoring drainage.
No pretending low maintenance means no maintenance.
No selling a tight-miter fantasy when the board is going to move.
No charging somebody every spring because the cable rail could not hold tension through a winter.
Why the hidden details get equal weight
This is the part that separates a deck installer from an outdoor environment.
The footing plan matters. The joist protection matters. The warranty registration matters. The maintenance packet matters. The product curation matters. The client education matters. The final inspection matters.
None of that photographs well. All of it decides whether the deck is still right in year ten.
A homeowner should not have to become a decking expert to avoid a bad deck. That is our job.

Do you only install one brand?
For composite decking, yes — we build on Trex, because years of installing competing boards in this climate is what decided it. That is a statement about what we buy, not a claim about other companies. Where another manufacturer genuinely makes the better product for a specific job, like a tongue-and-groove ceiling, we use it.
What does "solving the property" mean in practice?
It means the deck is designed against the actual site rather than dropped onto it. Where the water goes, where the sun lands and for how long, how the grade falls away, what is buried in the yard, what the view is worth protecting, and what the space underneath could become. Those answers change the design before a board is ever ordered.
Do you handle engineering and permits?
Engineering and permits are carried inside our scope rather than billed as a separate line item. What a given municipality requires varies, and we walk through what your project needs at the consultation.
Is this only for large projects?
No. The standard is about how decisions get made, not how big the job is. A smaller deck built on a correct footing plan with a protected frame and real drainage is a Pinnacle deck. A large one built without those things is not.
